October is when the wardrobe conversation stops being about transition and starts being about genuine cold-weather commitment. This list leans harder into investment territory than August or September's did — a few of these are pieces I'm actively deciding between rather than idly browsing, and at least two are very likely becoming this season's actual purchases. Also, who would have thought English whisky would become a thing. Yes, it really is. So get involved and get yourself a bottle.
1. A Wool Overcoat
I mentioned getting an overcoat in this piece on How To Build A Capsule Wardrobe. The hope is that it gets colder so that it warrants getting and wearing a wool overcoat. Either way, you could still get one and layer over lighter weight clothing such as a rugby shirt, or oxford-button-down. Get an overcoat that goes past the knees.

2. A Second Pair of Boots, in a Dress-Boot Silhouette
My current boot rotation leans toward a casual aesthetic, so I'm looking to add a bit more of dress boot for the more formal end of the season ahead. But one that can also double up with different outfits.

5. Cross-seasonal Blazer
It's been a warm start to Autumn and so having jackets made in suitable fabric is a good option. I was considering a corduroy blazer, but in all honesty, a cotton one will do the job better – I'll leave the cord for Nov/Dec.

6. Falke Merino Base Layer

The Final Say
The Gloverall overcoat and Seiko chronograph are the two front-runners this month, and both are likely to be used on a consistent basis. However, having said that, Humantra electrolytes will be used on a daily basis without fail, whether I'm doing sports or not – it's become part of my lifestyle habits.
