Still made in their France, their Cléon factory in La Romagne, is renowned for its technical expertise and its exacting standards regarding the quality and safety of raw materials, which they've been doing for 75 years. Manufacturing shoes in France has been an integral part of the history of the family business. The factory employs 45 people in its workshop, with skilled makers using European sourced leathers to make the shoes. Kleman also have a commitment in supporting and preserving French craftsmanship, which has been in danger of disappearing.

The Kleman Brand

Kleman has a legacy of built over 75 years. A shoemaker by trade, René Cléon was deployed to the front during the Second World War. He was taken prisoner in 1940 during the Battle of France.

In 1988, the Kleman brand (a contraction of Cléon Manufacture) was officially launched. Cléon Manufacture became a supplier to several French public administrations that trusted its expertise. The company won increasingly important tenders; first to supply footwear to the French National Railway Company (SNCF), then Air France, followed by contracts with customs, some fire departments, and even the French army.

Originally designed for professionals seeking safety, robustness, and quality, most of Kleman's iconic models, offers an anti-slip guarantee thanks to their sole's rubber properties.
