British knitwear brand Malloch's team up with fine gauge knitting royalty John Smedley to make a vintage inspired polo shirt to bolster their Summer offering. Malloch's visited the famous John Smedley factory to do a photoshoot in and amongst the hallowed walls where their famous knitwear is made. Both brands are champions of British knitwear, keeping a tradition of luxury knitwear made in the UK. With John Smedley collaborating with Malloch's it brings together like-minded philosphies.
Cromford Polo Shirt
The Cromford Sea Island Cotton Polo Shirt is a throwback to vintage style cues with a large collar, a slightly higher waistband and fisheye buttons mimicked from a vintage Smedley polo shirt. Made using a luxurious 30gg fine knit Sea Island Cotton that is spun by John Smedley at their factory in Matlock, England, which they’ve been specialists at producing since 1922. Sea Island Cotton, also known as “black seed” or “Gossypium barbadense” to give it its Latin name, is considered the highest grade cotton on the planet. It’s also the rarest, making up less than 0.0004% of the world's cotton production. It boasts a unique set of characteristics that include being breathable, hypoallergenic, and extremely soft against the skin – making it far superior to other cotton species, with the yarn being extra-long and super fine in texture.
