Crown Northampton make exceptional made-to-order shoes and sneakers with a variety of leathers, colours and finishes to choose from. I was offered a pair of shoes from Crown Northampton for this article and chose the Artizan Belgian Slipper as I'm in the process of getting a bespoke Black Tie Dinner suit. I thought it would be the perfect accompaniment to it.
When making my selection and order I took time to weigh up what I'd need in a new pair of shoes, and came to the conclusion that a pair of shoes to suit my up-and-coming Dinner Suit would be ideal. I looked through the collection to see what would be suitable and came across the Artizan Belgian Slippers. As with all of Crown Northampton shoes, you can select the colour and sole colour (some styles allow you to choose particular leathers that they have in stock). I went with a black sole to match my attire. I would recommend measuring your feet as suggested by Crown Northampton to ensure you're getting the right size and fit.
The shoe I chose, Artizan Belgian Slipper features apron detailing that draws inspiration from lightweight jazz shoes. Clean, simple, and versatile, the soft leather moulds to your foot, and the sole flexes with natural movement. The handmade natural leather-lined upper sits atop a custom-cut Vibram sole unit, which can be resoled if and when required. Between the insole and outsole, the shoe features a layer of cork filling, which is usually only found in high-quality, hand-made dress shoes. This process acts in a similar way to memory foam, adding comfort and support as your foot gradually beds into the shoe, leaving a subtle and lasting personal imprint.
