Zegna Couture – The Eco Leader

Ermenegildo Zegna has a wonderful history the heart of Italy’s fashion industry, with their own mills producing wonderful fabrics. The fabrics, used by other brands, can be fond used in various suiting and outerwear. But Zegna expertly craft their own garments carrying on the same high standards to which they manufacture the fabrics. Their commitment to superior quality fabrics has been going on for over 100 years. Through the various guises and sister brands, Ermenegildo Zegna Couture draws upon the natural side of the Zegna business, bringing its sustainable approach to the fore.

Not content with a choice of luxury, the eco-leader chooses more from his life. Selecting eco-friendly products to consume, while remaining socially aware and responsible. That choice continues to what one wears and how you look after them. One thing that made a big impression on me earlier this year was meeting some amazing people at the Danish Fashion Institute who are big on sustainability. It is definitely the way forward and it’s great to see Zegna making steps forward in this direction. However, it doesn’t lie only in the selection of fabric, but rather also in the way we treat and look after our garments – how often we wash/clean it, how we clean it etc. Making sure our clothing remains in good condition gives it a longer lifespan, and this, they convinced me, is the most important aspect of having ecologically viable products.

Ermenegildo Zegna Couture gives an incredibly good effort at giving us fabrics from sustainable sources, while giving us the right choices to build our eco-leader wardrobe. Not to be dismissed, this is, I believe, the way forward and we’ll be hearing more and more from brands about being responsible in the way we chose our clothing as well as the way we look after it. Take note from Zegna.
