Icon – Montblanc Meisterstück
I was lucky enough to visit the factories in Switzerland where Montblanc make their watches – in and amongst a whole host of other watch manufacturers. I never knew that within a couple of valleys in the Swiss mountains contained the hub of the world’s top horology talent. Going through the workshops you could see the attention to detail, but it’s another of Montblanc’s products that captivates me and is a genuine icon is one of their famed writing instruments; The Meisterstück.
Although the Meisterstück name has expanded to other products exemplifying the brands quality, it’s the writing instruments that cements it’s iconic status. With it’s easily recognisable black resin casing and gold-plated details, the Montblanc star – representing the Montblanc mountain if looked from above – perched on the cap, a visible sign of quality and engineering perfection. It has a wonderful weight and feel when using. You can find the Meisterstück in several guises, such as mechanical pencil, roller ball pen and fountain pen. For the latter, it’s possible to also get the ink in beautiful Montblanc branded ink wells that include; Mystery Black, Royal Blue, Midnight Blue, Burgundy Red, Lavender Purple, Oyster Grey, Toffee Brown, Irish Green and Corn Poppy Red. You can also chose your nib width on the fountain pens to get that perfect stroke most suitable to your handwriting.
The one featured here is the Meisterstück Classique Fountain Pen, but there are plenty of others to view – click on the link below to see the full Meisterstück range. I’m rather tempted by the more contemporary Solitaire Blue Hour Midsize Ballpoint Pen.
